Abstract

Space-division multiplexing with multi-core fiber is a promising technology to increase a system capacity drastically. By using a combination of MCF and spectral efficient modulation format, trans-oceanic transmission with a capacity-distance product of 1.03 Ebit/s·km has been achieved.
