Abstract

1 Tbit/s (10×10.7 Gbit/s) transmission over 6200 km is obtained using 30 nm wide single-stage C-band optical repeaters (gain flatness <+/-10.1 dB), Aeff-enlarged positive dispersion fiber (Aeff>110 μm2) and slope-compensating dispersion-compensating fiber with a channel spacing of 0.3 nm. This transmission is investigated to study the possibility of terabit/s submarine systems.
