Abstract
The transmission of 20 Gbit/s-based terabit wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) signals over transpacific distances was reported. The transmission was done using a 23 nm-bandwidth C-band erbium-doped fibre amplifiers (EDFA) and symmetrically dispersion-managed fibre span. The average Q-factor and averaged optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) of all channels against transmission distance was presented. Results showed that both Q-factor and OSNR degrade almost linearly with transmission distance in the 6500 to 9200 km range.
