Abstract

40 Gbit/s-based unrepeatered wavelength division multiplexed transmission over 362 km has been demonstrated for the first time. The obtained bit error rate was better than 1 × 10-9 for all 25 channels despite the highly dispersive transmission line (∼8000 ps/nm).
