402.7-Tb/s weakly-coupled 10-mode-multiplexed transmission using rate-adaptive PS PDM-16QAM WDM signals

Abstract

We demonstrate a weakly-coupled 10-mode-multiplexed transmission with four 4u4 and two 2u2 MIMOs using rate-adaptive probabilistically-shaped (PS) PDM-16QAM signals over 48-km step-index few-mode fibre, achieving a record transmission capacity of 402.7 Tb/s in 125-Pm cladding single-core fibre transmission experiments.
