Abstract
High-speed voiceband data transmission over a cellular mobile system has been developed. The data transmission speed is 4800 b/s, and the information speed is approximately 65% of the transmission speed when mobile. The behavior of the signal transmission errors over a fading channel has been analyzed through computer simulation. A fast pull-in modem, an adaptive error control scheme and a data transmission protocol have been developed to overcome the radio fading. The experimental values of the throughput efficiency coincide with theoretical predictions.
