Abstract

A structured Ni/Al2O3 catalyst was prepared by combination of a solgel method for forming an oxide layer and electroless plating for depositing a metallic component on a stainless honeycomb fin. When using a sodium borohydride bath for the plating, the prepared catalyst indicated a high activity for methane-steam reforming, which was almost equal to the equilibrium, under severe conditions. The developed combination method is effective for preparing a structured catalyst and could be used to prepare other kinds of structured catalysts.
