A framework of roadmap for implementation of 3R technology in Asia

    Abstract

    A framework of roadmap for implementation of technologies in the 3R field, which is designed for ASEAN countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam), China and India, has been conducted based on a methodology that the volume of waste/scraps correlates with the development of eco nomic lev el and a cumulative probability distribution of stocked devices, and on a correlation of the density of waste/scraps generation between the eight countries and Japan. Outline of 3R technologies' design for each country, which is taken as an object of this study, is shown in the framework of roadmap. The historical records of economic level and policy making for the issues of waste management in Japan have referred to build indices for the implementation of 3R technologies in each country. For some countries (Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, China and India), the income difference of which is much expanded, implementation scenario for 3R technologies in urban areas is distinguished from rural areas. The framework of roadmap is expected to be sufficiently robust as to make it applicable across the implementation of most of 3R technologies and provides milestones for policy-makers in the 3R field in Asian emerging countries.
