Abstract

This paper describes a novel approach to the design optimization of ventilation holes in induction motors. By investigating the relationship between the rotor-yoke configuration and the magnetic flux in the air-gap, the authors determine the desirable arrangement of ventilation holes. Some numerical results for a practical machine, which demonstrate the validity of the proposed approach, are also presented.
