Abstract

This paper describes the so-called SecurePhone prototype system. Although we consider this prototype as a platform for further developments the current system is an easy-to-use, real-time VoIP (Voice over IP) client. The system operates on the ITU-T (International Telecommunications Union) H.323 standard, the standard for sending voice (audio) and video using IP on the Internet and within intranets. The current version of the SecurePhone provides some degree of VoIP security via a cryptosystem provided on the bases of the DES (Data Encryption Standard) algorithm. First results from experimental investigations demonstrate the usefulness of the SecurePhone application.
