A study on optimization the structure of ship in consideration of layout of the stiffeners

Abstract

Many number of stiffeners are attached to the ship. If structural optimization with layout of stiffeners can be performed, it is effective against decreasing ship cost. However, the number of design valuables may change in structural optimization with number of stiffeners. But, the standard evaluation of strength and optimization method cannot be used. In this study, the method of FEM analysis and the genetic algorithm with layout of stiffeners is examined. And so, the structural optimization of ship with layout of stiffeners is performed.
