Abstract

An experiment using an adaptive error-control scheme which adaptively selects error-correcting codes while monitoring the condition of the fading channel is described. The error-control scheme uses a modem with a data transfer rate of 4800 b/s with a modulation mode of 8 nu PSK, in accordance with CCITT V. 27. The proposed scheme obtains maximum throughput efficiency by selecting adaptive error-correcting codes according to the line status of the fading channel.
