Abstract

Wired and wireless seamless networks comprised of optical-fiber and radio-wave links can provide high-speed, resilient, and flexible broadband services, one of the important requirements for which is the precise and high-speed control of light waves based on advanced photonic technologies such as digital coherent detection, high-speed electro-optic conversion, and radio-over-fiber. In this paper, we focus on advanced photonic devices for optical and radio-wave links and on the expected performance and function of seamless networks.
