Abstract

We propose a nonlinear directional coupler loaded with a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) and a long-period grating for an all-optical signal regenerator. From the result of numerical simulation, we confirmed the potential of optical signal regeneration with reshaping and regenerating functions by utilizing enhanced nonlinear coupling in a wavelength-selective directional coupler using an SOA.
