Abstract

We have studied chemical potential shifts in filling-control transition-metal compounds from the shifts of photoemission and inverse photoemission spectra. Implications of the results for the electronic structure and electron correlation in these systems are discussed. In addition to the conventional Fermi-liquid behavior we find unusual shifts caused by a pseudo-gap formation and gap-opening resulting from stripe order in two-dimensional systems.
