Clutching and layer-switching: Interaction techniques for projection-phone

Abstract

We made a prototype cellular phone that incorporates a projection function. This prototype of a projection-phone is a system based on a commercially available portable projector to simulate the projection-phone environment. This system uses a peek technique by using image-based motion estimation to display virtual information. We developed clutching and layer-switchin as a way of enabling the user to interact with and manipulate the virtual information projected using the peek technique. We also present some scenarios in which the projection-phone can be used.
