Coke free dry reforming of n-dodecane by low energy pulsed electric discharge at low temperature

We investigated dry reforming of n-dodecane with low energy pulsed discharge which is a kind of non-equilibrium electric discharge at low temperature. Catalytic dry reforming of heavy hydrocarbon is very difficult reaction due to its high accumulation of carbon on the catalyst, so we attempt to use non-equilibrium electric discharge for the dry reforming of n-dodecane without any catalyst. By the reaction, we could obtain syngas (hydrogen and carbon monoxide) and small amount of C2 hydrocarbon without any coke formation. Also the reaction can be conducted at very low temperature so it would be a novel and effective process for syngas production from heavy hydrocarbon.
