In order to lighten the burden of the collection of speech data, a collecting and editing system for speech data is made. The structure of the system is made up of two parts, collecting and editing. In the collecting program, automatic speech interval detection and labeling make up a common data file (called the Master file). In the editing program, voice data which meet specified conditions are searched out from the Master files and the sampling frequency of voice data is converted, if necessary. The system is currently being used to collect data such as monosyllables, city names, interrogative sentences and the imperative sentences.
