Abstract

A comparative analysis is presented on the three conventional and one new method for evaluating the basic thermal insulation of clothing. A thermal manikin that is regulated at constant temperature, has the environmental temperature, and manikin heat loss and local skin temperature measured for various ensembles covering the body. The thermal insulation for each garment ensemble is evaluated by the current and new methods and the results compared.
