    Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to provide a framework for constructing an expert system to assist the security control function in normal operating states. The proposed ES judges the power system state from node voltages and line power flows and then provides a set of countermeasures corresponding to the state from among which the operator must select the most suitable one. The major features included in the present ES are summarized.
