Abstract

This paper presents a novel rectangular waveguide polarizer for Ka-band. The polarizer consists of corrugated waveguide with an elongated conductive plate in the axial direction. The combination of the corrugated and elongated conductive plates increases the phase difference, and decreases frequency deviation in wideband. Thus, low axial ratio and a short length are achieved. Analysis and measurements for the Ka-band verified these properties. As a result, it is confirmed that the polarizer has low axial ratio 0.9dB characteristics in the bandwidth, at 9% at 20GHz and 6.7% at 30GHz. Therefore, the proposed polarizer will be valid in the satellite feed systems.
