Abstract

The aim of this work has been to investigate the effect of the modification of Ag surface by simultaneous underpotential deposition (upd) of Pb and Tl on the electroreduction of Cr(OH//2)Cl**2** plus . The upd layers of Pb and Tl inhibit the electroreduction of Cr(OH//2)//5Cl**2** plus and the effect is a linear function of the upd metal coverage. The most likely explanation is that the interaction of the halide as a bridging species with the upd covered surface is less favorable than that with the substrate alone.
