Abstract

The morphogenetic evolution of heteromorph ammonites is studied from the viewpoint of fluctuations. The morphology of ammonites changes very little under stationary fluctuations, but non-stationary fluctuations have a significant effect on the shell morphology. Some characteristics to describe the global change of the morphology are proposed.
