Energy Management of Battery on Hybrid Voltage Source Three Level Inverter for Energy Saving Railway Vehicles

Abstract

Hybrid voltage source three level inverter has been studied which is combined with Li-ion battery (LiB) and DC line voltage for further energy saving of electric railway systems. In order to generate the energy saving effect of this system, it is necessary to manage the energy of LiB with an appropriate power flow control. In this paper, an energy management method in each pulse mode of the inverter is proposed, including the 1 pulse mode driving in high speed range. They are verified by a 0.75 kW class induction motor experimental system.
