Abstract
The tensile elongation in yttria-stabilized zirconia was enhanced using alumina addition and colloidal processing. High-purity 3 mol% yttria-stabilized tetragonal zirconia powders with an average particle size of 0.06 μm and an alumina powder were used. Microstructural observations were carried out during sintering using scanning electron microscopy and high-resolution electron microscopy.
