Estimation of the Buttiker-Landauer traversal time based on the visibility of transmission current

Abstract

A proposal for the estimation of Buttiker-Landauer traversal time based on the visibility of transmission current was established. Through analysis of the tunneling phenomena with a time-dependent potential, the time-dependent transmission current for a small perturbation V1 and an opaque case was obtained. It was observed that the visibility is directly connected to the traversal time, while Buttiker and Landauer proposed that the crossover from the low frequency behavior to the high frequency behavior yields the traversal time.
