Evaluation of flotation results using metanil yellow adsorption

    Abstract

    A new method was proposed to assess the surface properties of coal by adsorption of mciani yeilow using a continuous feed sysieiti. The area fraction of the hydrophobst' site on the exterior surface, αm, was ineasured for Datong, Tyanfu, Shanxi No, 1. IIlinois No. 6 and Blair Athol. Except for Tyanfu coal, the order of the vsjiues of αm is consistent with that of carbonaceous materials recovery. The inetanil yellow adsorption experiment requires no specific preparation, and can be applied to powder saitipaes.
