Abstract
The gradient index (GRIN) rod-lens-array is now being widely used as a compact imaging device, e. g. , for a low cost plain paper copier because of its short focal length, high numerical aperture and small and light body. For the evaluation of the imaging capability of the GRIN rod-lens-array, it is useful to measure the modulation transfer function (MTF) in its entire image plane as well as that of each element lens composing the rod-lens-array. We propose a new method for the evaluation which is performed by speckle double exposure technique combined with conventional optical filtering.
