Abstract

We demonstrate the feasibility of spectrum defragmentation in a flexible-grid optical network utilizing the flexible transmitter and receiver. According to the defragmentation controller, the flexible transmitter dynamically switches the modulation format/symbol rate/wavelength without hardware modification.
