Abstract

The feasibility of spectrum defragmentation is demonstrated in a flexigrid optical network employing the multi-format and multi-rate transmitter and receiver. For efficient defragmentation, the push-pull defragmentation technique is improved with additional functionality, which tunes the occupied frequency slots as well as the centre frequency.
