N2 - A mesoporous silica film with interconnected cage-type mesopores is found to work as a scaffold to construct a novel nanostructured Au by electrodeposition. The nanostructure consists of Au nanoparticles located in the mesopores and they are connected to each other, which induces a red shift in the visible absorption band.
