Fuzzy optimum structures and fuzzy robust structures

Abstract

In this study, new design methods of fuzzy optimum structures and fuzzy robust structures are developed using discretized values of membership functions. The discretized values of membership functions are developed for use as weighting coefficients in the objective functions. Fuzzy optimum trusses and fuzzy robust trusses are designed using the proposed method for demonstrative numerical examples. The robustness and the optimality in the obtained results are examined from various points of view.
