Gamma-irradiation effect on high-Tc superconductor YBa2Cu3O7-x

    Abstract

    The effect of γ-irradiation on YBa2Cu3O7-x was studied. The X-ray diffraction pattern of the sample shows no change up to the irradiation of 100 MR, indicating that the irradiated sample is still orthorhombic. It is concluded that there is virtually no change upon γ-irradiation up to 1000 MR (≈ 8 MGy), except for in the superconducting volume fraction.
