Generation of optical 8PSK using cascaded IQ modulators and binary electronics

Abstract

An eight-ary phase-shift keying (8PSK) transmitter is proposed and experimentally demonstrated using two cascaded in-phase/quadrature (IQ) modulators. Error-free operation was achieved for generated 30-Gb/s optical 8PSK.
