Abstract

We report on a highly efficient surface plasmon (SP) antenna which consists of a nano-aperture surrounded by a concentric grating, and its application to a Si nano-photodiode. A very fast response of 20 ps was obtained for a nano-scale metal-semiconductor-metal photodiode combined with this SP antenna.
