    Abstract

    In the computer network with a single communication line, several computers are connected by a single common communication line. A typical example is Ethernet. Such a network is simple in structure, flexible, inexpensive, and applicable to a wide area ranging from an inhouse network to a multiprocessor with weakly coupled common bus. Experimental studies for Ethernet and others have been made but qualitative evaluation on the system has not yet been reported. In this paper a quantitative analysis is made for system performance of the computer network with short communication line (short transmission delay time). The conventional CSMA (carrier sense multiple access) is examined. Then the analysis is made for the truncating CSMA method where bits are not transmitted after the packet collision.
