Abstract

A total design method for computer network systems and a support system that provides a good working environment to develop protocols and communication software are described. The protocol specification language NESDEL, the communication-software-oriented programming language IDL, and the intelligent editor for NESDEL are examined in detail. A translator that translates protocol specification into its corresponding communication software, which is expressed by using IDL, is presented.
