Kirigami Thermoelectric Generator with High Flexibility and High Performance

Abstract

In a thermoelectric generator (TEG), it is difficult to achieve both high flexibility and high performance. We proposed both high flexibility and high performance by using a kirigami structure for a substrate. The kirigami structure can achieve both bending deformation and stretching deformation. In addition, because the deformation is in the height direction, a large temperature difference can be realized and leads to high performance. In this paper, we fabricated array-type kirigami TEG and evaluate the characteristics on flat and curved heat sources. Furthermore, we demonstrated a wireless temperature sensing using the fabricated array-type kirigami TEG.
