Large cross-phase modulation and four wave mixing in tellurite EDFAs

Abstract

Models are presented which show that, for WDM systems, XPM and FWM in EDFAs can be far larger for tellurite than for silica (tens of dB larger for FWM), because tellurite is highly nonlinear. Experimental results for XPM are presented.
