Abstract

In the present paper, we propose a method of lossless compression for color document images (which consist of text, graphics, and pictures). Though many approaches for this technique consist of region segmentation and multiple compression methods for each region, region segmentation needs high computational costs and large workspace. Therefore, we realize a high performance compression method without region segmentation which is developed by transformation of scan order and run length coding using color run correlation. From the simulation results, the proposed method exceeded Gzip by 15% and JPEG-LS by 47% in coding efficiency.
