    Abstract

Bearing unit tests and complete gearbox test have been conducted as a fundamental research of a helicopter transmission to investigate an ability to operate 30 minutes after loss of lubrication oil. Bearing material used to test is a standard rolling bearing steel, and gear material is 9310 steel. Test results at rated power have indicated no abnormal phenomenon except weak discoloration on the bearing races. One method to predict the product under a lubrication-starvation condition has been founded.
