Abstract

In a deep image of the SSA22 field taken through a narrowband filter NB912 installed in the Subaru/Suprime-Cam, we have found the number density of the photometric Lyα emitter (LAE) candidates with LLyα > 3 × 1042 erg s-1 at z = 6.5 is a factor of 3-7 smaller than that found at the same redshift in the Subaru Deep field (SDF). There is a trend that more luminous LAE candidates are fewer. If we consider a scenario that a larger neutral fraction of intergalactic hydrogen, x HI, in the SSA22 field obscures a part of Lya emission, x HI in the SSA22 field should be about 2 times larger than that in the SDF, which is translated into xHI < 0.9 in the SSA22 at z = 6.5.
