Abstract

A multi-wavelength optical transmitter that employs time-domain modulation of directly modulated wavelength-swept light is proposed. This scheme offers the simplicity and flexibility needed for future optical access networks based on high spectral density wavelength division multiplexing. A proof-of-concept demonstration of the generation and selective detection of four-channel 1.25Gbit/s signals is shown.
