Abstract
A module generator is introduced for generating functional modules with structural regularity. Unlike most module generators, which are only able to place cells, the proposed generator can generate functional modules with structural routers for regular-structure layouts. Graphical layout description tools used to describe correct layout structure easily on graphic displays are also proposed. Experimental results show that several modules, such as multipliers and RAM, are generated in a very short time with the same performance as fully manually designed layouts.
