    Abstract

A nonlinear optical device is demonstrated on a silicon substrate for hybrid silicon photonics. Efficient second harmonic generation is achieved at telecommunication wavelength by quasi-phase matching in Mg:LiNbO3 core with a ridge waveguide structure. A normalized conversion efficiency of 220%/W cm2 is obtained at a fundamental wavelength of 1581.5 nm.
