Abstract

Third-harmonic generation measurements have been made on polydiacetylene thin films fabricated by vacuum deposition. The third-order susceptibility was evaluated to be chi **(**3**) equals 1. 4 multiplied by 10** minus **1**1 esu at 1. 9 mu m wavelength.
