Optimum Parameter Design of Er3+-Doped Fiber for Optical Amplifiers

Abstract

This paper theoretically determines the optimum fiber parameters for an Er3+-doped fiber amplifier pumped by a 1.48 μm laser diode using the rate equation for a three-level laser system. The signal gain depends on the cutoff wavelength and the Er3+-doped area radius.
