Abstract

A binary spatial modulation (BSM) for ferroelectric liquid-crystal spatial light modulator (FLC-SLM) to achieve an exact analog optical intensity have been fabricated and have used it to an optical analog-valued multiplier. In this article, a compact neuron module with learning ability in which FLC-SLM vector-matrix multipliers and a-Si photodetector (PD) arrays were cascaded was recommended. This opto-electronic neuron module can conform to the synapse weight relative to the feedback data for learning. In developing an a-Si PD/FLC-SLM pair array device and linear FLC-SLM devices, an extremely dense lensless module was produced. Neuron functions including learning were justified experimentally.
