Parallel study between positronium yield and emission spectra in perfluorobenzene and cyclohexane mixtures-Influence of excited states on positronium yield

Abstract

Positronium yield and emission spectra in C6F6/c-C6H12 mixtures have been measured. An emission band in the range of 300-450 nm with the maximum at 370 nm and the lifetime of about 3 ns has been observed. This is ascribed to the lowest singlet excited state of C6F6. The dependencies of Ps yield and emission intensity on C6F6 concentration were very similar to each other. Possible effect of excited states of C6F6 on Ps formation is emphasized.
