[PE1-019] Effect of FeOx on the liquidus line of the Al2O3-CaO-SiO2-Cr2O 3 system at 1573K

Abstract

The shredder dust such as an automobile and a home electric appliance is treated in the copper smelting to recover the copper and precious metals in the dust. These secondary materials include combustibles components and chlorine with valuable metals. These are incinerated in rotary kiln furnace to remove combustion and the chlorine of the combustibles component. Refractory including Al2O3 or Cr2O3 is used in the rotary kiln furnace and has strong heat resistance. However, an erosion of the refractory of Al2O3 was sometimes observed with the FeOx-CaO-SiO2 slag. When we consider prolongation of human life of a furnace, A knowledge about the reaction of Al2O3 and the FeOx content slag is important. To characterize the phase equilibria relevant to the slags experimental studies have been carried out to determine liquidus lines of the FeOx-CaO-SiO2-Al2O3-Cr2O3 system with some fixed CaO/SiO2 mass% ratios and 3.0mass% Cr2O3 at 1573 K. It was found that the influence of the addition of Cr2O3 is small to slag liquidus of Al2O3-CaO-SiO2 ternary system. In the measurement range from 0 to 15mass% FeOx, the liquidus line of anorthite primary phase field in the the FeOx-CaO-SiO2-Al2O3-Cr2O3 system does not change with the CaO/SiO2 ratios of 0.3 to 0.6. On the other hand, the liquid phase was expanded with an increase of the FeO x content except for 0.3 <mass%CaO/mass%SiO2 ratios <0.6.
